The Sovereignty of God

“The Mighty One, God, the Lord speaks;” Psalm 50:1

My mother always kept her hands busy—creating. She knitted, crocheted, made ceramic pieces, fashioned beautiful, delicate objects out of goose eggs; made articles out of clothe using her sewing machine; embroidered; and made delicious meals. Can you imagine any one of these objects what she made with her ery capable hands, saying to her…”What are you doing?” or “Why did you make me this way?” In doing and creating all these things me Mom, was in charge and maintained control over them all.

To be able to have a better understanding of the infinite, we must delve into the finite. Understanding our mere creations makes way for us to understand the sovereignty of God. The word sovereign means “supreme being”—one who reigns over all. The book of all truth—the Holy Bible—begins by telling us in no uncertain terms that “God created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen. 1:1)  And, John, writes, ” He was in the beginning…and all things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.” (1:3) Yet there are many who refuse to believe or accept the sovereignty of Almighty God.

Jeremiah tells us that God has a plan; that plan is for our good and our success. (Jeremiah 29:11) All of us are but a hunk of coal and only our creator can make us into a diamond someday. However, there are spiritual forces that try to stir us down the wrong path. The Evil One, ole-sloo-foot as I call him, instills in us a sense of fear. He makes us second guess and destroys our confidence in the Lord. He makes everything nebulous and destroys the clarity of God’s voice. When you feel confused please know that feeling is not of the Lord. It is a tactic used by Satan to keep you from the peace of God that passes all understanding. (Phil 4:6-7)

I’m hoping that you will stand with me in declaring the sovereignty of God to all the world. We do not need big crowds or stadiums full of people—one person at a time is all it takes. Then that person tells another of the peace and love that can be experienced by proclaiming the sovereignty of Almighty God—the Creator of the world and all that is therein. Then another and another and soon all the world will know, proclaim and be saved. Praise be to God!

Dear Lord, I give myself to you—help me disclaim all fear and confusion and proclaim Your strength, power, and love through Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN
